One URL in, 7 tabs back.
Nothing to install and no extension to trust. The fetch runs on our server and the parsing is finished before the result reaches you.
Step 1
Paste the URL you want to read
Any publicly reachable page — your own template, a competitor's landing page, or an address you would rather not open in your own browser. One URL per run.
Step 2
Choose desktop or mobile
The toggle changes the user-agent string sent with the request. Run it once each way and you can compare the 2 responses, which is the quickest way to catch a site that serves different HTML to phones.
Step 3
Read the 7 tabs
Raw source with highlighting and word wrap, then the meta tags, the HTTP headers, an SEO summary, the security headers, any structured data and the resources the page references.
The security headers, and what each one is for.
The security tab lists what came back. This is what those headers actually do, because almost nothing else in this category bothers to explain them.
| Header | What it protects against | Typical value | Missing means | Priority |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Content-Security-Policy | Cross-site scripting and third-party code injected into the page | default-src 'self'; script-src 'self' | Any script that reaches the page is allowed to run, including one arriving through a compromised dependency. | High, and the hardest of the 5 to roll out |
| Strict-Transport-Security | Downgrade attacks and cookie theft on an insecure first request | max-age=31536000; includeSubDomains | A visitor typing the bare domain still makes one plaintext request before your redirect can rescue them. | High, and among the cheapest to add |
| X-Frame-Options | Clickjacking, where your page is framed invisibly under someone else's | SAMEORIGIN | Anyone can embed the page in an iframe and lay their own controls over your buttons. | High on anything with a signed-in action |
| X-Content-Type-Options | MIME sniffing, where a browser guesses that a file is really a script | nosniff | A file served as plain text can be re-interpreted and executed as JavaScript by the browser. | Medium, and it is a one-line fix |
| Referrer-Policy | Leaking full URLs, paths and tokens to every site you link out to | strict-origin-when-cross-origin | The complete address of the current page travels to whatever external site a visitor clicks through to. | Medium, higher if your URLs carry identifiers |
The panel reports what the response contained. It does not grade the headers, score the domain or write the remediation for you — a letter grade tells you less than the header itself does.
How to view source straight from your browser.
You do not need us for a page you can already open. These are the shortcuts, and the one place they stop working.
iOS Safari blocks the view-source: scheme outright, so on an iPhone the options are a bookmarklet, an Apple Shortcut, a third-party app, or a server-side fetch like this one. Once the source is open, Ctrl+F or Cmd+F searches inside it.
7 tabs from a single fetch.
Most viewers in this category return raw HTML and stop there. This is what the same one request gives you instead.
Raw HTML as it arrived, and every meta tag inside it.
Raw source, highlighted and wrapped
The HTML exactly as the server sent it, with syntax highlighting and a word-wrap toggle so a minified line reads on a phone instead of scrolling sideways forever.
Meta tags in a readable list
Title, description, canonical, robots, viewport, Open Graph and Twitter Card, lifted out of the document so you are not hunting through markup for them.
4 reasons to read a page's source.
Source code is only interesting when something is broken, or when somebody else has done something right.
Auditing what a page declares
Check the title, canonical, robots directive and Open Graph tags a URL actually ships, rather than the ones the CMS preview promised you.
Debugging a template
When a tag appears on one page and vanishes on another, the raw pre-JavaScript response tells you whether the template ever emitted it at all.
Reviewing security headers
See which protective headers a domain returns before you sign off on a launch, and which ones nobody got around to adding.
Opening a page you would rather not visit
The fetch happens on our server, so you can read the markup of an unfamiliar or suspicious URL without loading it in your own browser.
How this differs from the alternatives.
Both alternatives are legitimate, and the browser beats us outright on the last row.

How do I get source code of a website?
Ctrl+U, or paste the URL here.
To get source code of website pages, paste a public URL into the viewer and run the tool. It displays the HTML returned by the server, rather than private application files.
How do I extract code from website pages?
5 fetches a day, no account.
Use the website code extractor to fetch and search the public HTML response. It cannot retrieve private server code, databases or files that the website does not make public.
Can I use this as a website source code downloader?
Viewing, yes. Reusing is a separate question.
Yes. The website source code downloader saves the fetched HTML so you can inspect it locally. It does not download every linked image, stylesheet or script as a complete offline website.
Fetch a page and read what the server sent.
5 free fetches a day. No account, no email, no extension to install.
Keep your results and audit your whole site
A free account saves your work in a project and runs a full website audit of up to 100 pages. No card.

Why is JavaScript content missing from the source code website view?
The source code website view shows the HTML response before JavaScript runs. Content added later in your browser may appear in developer tools but not in the original response.
Can I get source code website files from a login-only page?
This viewer fetches publicly accessible URLs without your private login session. It does not bypass authentication or expose protected website files.
